Arduino Pro Mini

Got an Arduino Pro Mini ( with pre-soldered headers thank you very much) ... in fact got two at 4 bucks each !. Will I be able to get it ( the Inland version of the Pro Mini ) working ?

FTDI Cable 5V - https://www.sparkfun.com/products/9718

... This cable has the same pinout and functionality as our FTDI Basic Breakout board; you can use it to program your Arduino Pro, Pro Mini and Lilypad. For use with those boards, align the black and green wires of the FTDI cable with the ‘BLK’ and ‘GRN’ labels on the PCB.

... [ Comment ] ... You do NOT need a FTDI whatever to program these if you own an uno. All you need to do is connect all the pins on the short side of the pro mini (or the same pins on the long sides, the ones on the short side are just for FTDI connectors and are redundant) to the matching pins on your uno (tx-tx, rx-rx, reset-reset, gnd-gnd,vbus or vin on the mini-5v on the uno). You then remove the atmega328 chip from your uno (thats why you need an uno, i use a small screwdriver and pry from both sides evenly to avoid bending pins) and your done!

... [ Another Comment ] ... I subsequently did some research and found that the FTDI board from Inland (and others) matches the Pro Mini from Inland (and others), just as the FTDI board from Adafruit (and/or SparkFun) matches the Pro Mini from Adafruit (and/or SparkFun).

Five out of seven comments did not recommend this product, whoops.

The saga continues ...
